Base out of Friday Harbor. Lime Kiln Point is the world's best land-based orca spotting perch — bring binoculars and patience.
Orcas Island
Horseshoe-shaped and mountainous. Drive up Mt. Constitution in Moran State Park for a panorama across the entire archipelago.
Whidbey & beyond
Longer, gentler and reachable by bridge from the north. Deception Pass, Coupeville mussels, and quiet gray-sand beaches.
